GENERATOR PROPOSAL, 2009

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The GENERATOR is a proposal for a sculptural, experiential intervention for several predetermined sites. Utilizing STARCHITEQ formal methodology, GENERATOR acts as a sculptural event space incorporating issues of generative culture: The utility of space as an evolving environment responsive to its observers and inhabitants, acting as a experiential link between phenomenological facts of the greater Micro and Macrocosm. Hinging the ideas of sculpture, painting, architecture, and environment, GENERATOR supercedes exact definition while remaining a capitulate object. GENERATOR’s geometries are derived entirely from Golden Ratio variations: The unifying formula of the universe. The images displayed in the GENERATOR proposal were derived as theoretical visualization and ideation of the as-yet-unseen mysteries of the extreme microcosmic universe composing all physical matter. By combining these theoretical visuals with geometric fact it is the hope of GENERAL.LA studio that the observer will be initiated into a phenomenological moment of enlightened understanding as to “what the reality of subjective experience and the objective universe” actually are.

“SYNCHONOMULUS UNIVERSALIS” – EMANATE Proposal for MATERIALS & APPLICATIONS, LA 2008

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The Emanate Project is the first official application of a rigorous regard for the discipline of STARCHITEQ principles. First, I utilized the plan of the site, uncovering its underlying Golden Mean Phi geometry in 2 dimensions. Second, using the exact time/place of the installation’s opening I calculated the astrological map of exact constellations that would appear in the cosmos above the installation at this opening’s ‘star-date’. Third, incorporating this data into the design of the installation, created a formal integration of these alignments resolving in an expansive Phi proportional framework, and canopy directly mirroring the stars above in its fenestration. The result is a site specific formal application of STARCHITEQ discipline: to create a timeless moment with complete regard for a monument that bridges the micro and macrocosm in factual harmonic geometry and scientific proof, hence a universal synchronizing anomaly, or “SYNCHONOMULUS UNIVERSALIS”.

‘SKELETECTURE’ : LA RIVER INTERVENTION PROPOSAL 2012

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

SKELETECTURE is a proposed intervention into the LA River Viaduct in concordance with initiatives to steward healthy indigenous ecosystems along its miles of concrete infrastructure. The contemporary movement in LA design and urban-planning to eliminate the ‘urban heat island’ effect of ubiquitous concrete in the urban built environment is paralleled with a conscious consideration to provide healthy ecosystems for indigenous wildlife- fauna and flora alike- thus, the SKELETECTURE proposal seeks to make steps toward these mutual goals by becoming a foundation by which nature may begin to reclaim its space. The SKELETECTURE Proposal is a design interventional framework- a foundation- composed of a skeletal form incorporating vital systems to regenerating the LA River. Composed of layers similar to the skeletal system of any mammal, SKELETECTURE incorporates a foundational frame with a core of irrigating pathways harvesting water from the rivers existing flow and allocating it to the many capillaries on its surface: porous areas (potentially preseeded and fertilized) meant to collect sediment and become a living green surface in time. As this natural incubation occurs over years, the skeletal form becomes an intermediary habitat for existing wildlife while also becoming a ‘filtration-dam’ stopping debris from permeating downstream. SKELETECTURE’s strong sculptural presence adds to urban beautification and the futurization of our city while the transition to its ecosystemic state is anticipated.

‘SCIMITAR’ : VEHICLE CONCEPT 2012

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

SCIMITAR is a design proposal for a concept vehicle intended to revolutionize transportation. Aesthetically, it pushes cutting edge design to iconically symbolize its revolutionary propulsion technology. Combining an auxiliary engine (fueled by a catylitic conversion of water to hydrogen and oxygen vapor) for ignition and initial energy imput, SCIMITAR utilizes potential inertia and momentum to continuously recharge a system of Crystaline Aemoetrian (C) battery cells. A secondary solar collection field is integrated into the fuselage. Together, these three energy systems make transportation extremely efficient: a gallon of water can power the SCIMITAR for a year of continuous use. Together with atmospheric humidity collection units, SCIMITAR could be considered the first independently fueled vehicle.

‘EXOPOLITIX’ : MOMA SCULPTURE GARDEN PROPOSAL 2008

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

EXOPOLITIX is a monumental sculptural exercise in iconically representing the aesthetic movement and cultural values of our era, while recognizing the evolution of the human being past that of a global species, into a galactic or interstellar relevant race. One of the first integrations of STARCHITEQ methodology, EXOPOLITIX is comprised of a reclaimed aluminum shell filled with several alloys in magneto-graviton ratios as to produce a specific electromagnetic frequency in its immediate adjacent space. The gravitational phenomena is experienced trancendantly by the viewer as a phenomenon meant to initiate a universally conscious state.

‘INTENTIONICRON’ : MOCA GEFFIN PROPOSAL 2008

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

INTENTIONICRON is a 2008 proposal site specific for The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Geffin Contemporary Space. A radical use of material, INTENTIONICRON serves as a symbol of artistic appropriation of the principles of a 21st century, transcendent civilization. Composed of Bio-Resins (such as DuPont’s BioMax or Cereplast’s BioResins)as a primary base and covered in Nanophotovoltaic paint (or perhaps a more practical and macroscopic photovoltaic skin, the sculptural monument is a light source for the museum plaza at night, absorbing solar energy during the day. Excess voltage can be utilized as a power source for various museum devices. An origin piece of STARCHITEQ aesthetics, INTENTIONICRON iconifies the stylistic zeitgeist emerging in the first decade of the second millennium.

*2061 CONCEPT 2008

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

*2061 Is a future consideration. Conceptualized around creating a “future” lounge patio environment for an artist studio and collective located @ 2061 FairOaks Avenue in Altadena, California. The Address 2061 was used to address the issue of “Future”- becoming a reference date from which to consider technologies that may be employed in an environmental context. The term ‘Holographic Ambiosynthetic Environment’ (dated July, 2008) is used to describe a conceptual environmental technology. Derived of synthetic holographic nanoparticles, Screens, Canopies, and even Tables like the lower right-of-center illustration could potentially ‘materialize’ holographicallywith the use of nanoparticles that are activated from one dimension to be utilized at will in the user’s dimension. This radical shift in the thinking of technology and its holographic implications in environments means that nearly any object could remain as ‘potentialized’ in another dimension until needed, and ‘activated’ in the user’s dimension to be utilized until it would quite literally vanish. In a future where the laws of physics are predictably bent, antiquated ideas such as “two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time” are rules meant to be broken!

BEYOND SKIN: NANOCOMPOSITE SOLAR TECH-STILE FOR SELF-SUSTAINING TENTSEGRITY DWELLINGS IN PRIMARILY TEMPORARY MODULAR CONDITIONS

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

‘BEYOND SKIN’ is a conceptual project ideation for the proposal of imagining potentially highly evolved building materials using cutting edge technology that is currently realized and factually capable of providing the technical abilities theorized by such inventive leaps, however are likely in their public infancy or still privatized in research and officially comercially prohibited or simply ahead if their time.
Specific to BEYOND SKIN, this conceptual high-performance industrial technology is an intelligent fabric composed of nanoscopic circuitry particles that facilitate its ability to function as a photovoltaic textile retaining common functional traits of its technological mechanics while the nuances of its applied form as a fabric are uncompromised: the physical agility of the skin to fold and bend, drape, stretch, behave with either appropriate opacity or translucency, with a high endurance performance presupposing immunity to extremes in environmental conditions without a single malfunction or microscopic failure in structural integrity.
Proposed is variable application- i.e. As a modularly deployed emergency shelter, future integration with theorized reality parallels like quasi postapocalyptic lifestyles perhaps reactionary to geoengineering or global warming, or even imagined as a biomimetic skin with vital utilities matching that of its natural counterpart the obvious multiplicity of potential uses begins to open doors to revolutionary neocultural advancements in the built environment.
Applied in these images with different representational choices signifies theoretical variations in realized presupposition between intended material qualities, actual recognition of boundaries and constraints in physics, and variation of aesthetics based upon different qualities in nanomechanical resolution and scale.

‘GLITZ’ : ARCHITECTURAL PANELING CONCEPT 2011

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

GLITZ is a facade surfacing concept developed in serendipity. First, happening upon a highly reflective, metallic flake balloon– and capturing the nuance of that surface digitally, the image was then mapped for luminosity density using a computational software. Attributing 3d extrusion values to levels of brilliance, a surface form is produced as a geometric model from which to base the facade surface. Molding translucent bioresins with the geometric model as a guide, the result is GLITZ.
